The High Peaks hub. Every serious hike in the Adirondacks starts here, including most of the 46 named peaks over 4,000 feet. The road into Keene from the south (Route 73) runs past Chapel Pond and a wall of rock faces that climbers from across the East come to train on. The town itself is one street with a diner, a gear store, and a guide service.
