007 Long Lake

A 14-mile lake in the geographic center of the Adirondack Park. The town is the birthplace of the Adirondack guideboat (the lightweight rowing craft that defined Adirondack travel before motors) and home to Helms Aero Service, one of only two seaplane charters left in the Park. The Helms family has flown out of the same dock since 1947. Long Lake is also the starting point of the Roosevelt-Marcy Scenic Byway, the route the buckboard wagon took the night Roosevelt rode out from Mt. Marcy to North Creek.
